Title
"12th Engineers coming through the Court of Honor."
Description
Horizontal, sepia photograph shows returning 12th Engineers Regiment marching through the Court of Honor gates. Crowds are gathered along the streets and people fill the viewing stands. St. Louis officials planned welcome parades for returning local soldiers who were being transported by train to or through St. Louis, including the Twelfth Engineer Regiment of the United States Army. These Parades took different routes but all went through the "Court of Honor" on 12th Street, a section of which was marked by ornate white pillars and public viewing stands. Organizers typically had family members and friends gather at City Hall Park to meet the returning soldiers. Citation: St. Louis Republic, May 1919
